The association had just finished their crazy hair and sock day, an initiative that raises money and awareness for the Kids Cancer Project.

Having been forced to postpone the annual event already, vice-president Cecelia Marmont said they were grateful for getting the chance to welcome players and spectators for the day.

"We finish there at about 4:30 on a Saturday so it was basically pack up and go straight home," she told the Southern Highland News.

"We literally snuck it in which we were very thankful for. We welcomed back spectators for the first time in two weeks so it was really good to have that support on the sideline as well."

The day, promoted by Netball NSW and run in the Southern Highlands for over a decade, encourages players and spectators to wear colourful socks and create unique hairstyles.

Despite Covid-19 restrictions limiting spectator numbers (one per player) and preventing the traditional cake stall, the association still managed to raise $366.25 in gold coin donations.

Marmot said it was a wonderful day all round after the previous postponements.

"It was the best day," she said.

"It was a beautiful day in the Highlands on Saturday, minimal wind which is what we love down at Eridge Park because we don't always get that.

"All the teams turned out, the little kids were really excited, some of the big kids too and even the adults. People of all ages got involved and got dressed up."

"I think in the current climate [it's important], particularly having a lockdown being announced while we were still at the netball courts.

"The little kids were looking forward to this. I have a small child who plays and she was very disappointed that we had to postpone a couple of weeks ago due to some of the cases in the Highlands.

"She was very upset so to actually get this off the ground and have it was a really good thing and we got to raise money as well."
