To be held at The Robertson Hotel and organised by Book Nook 2577, the event kicks off with Robertson local Air Commodore John Oddie as the first cab off the rank (or perhaps, plane off the runway).
John will discuss his autobiography Flight Command, which was released in 2014.
The book looks back on his childhood in rural Victoria, and follows his journey all the way to the rank of Air Commodore in the RAAF.
As well as covering the war in Afghanistan, Flight Command provides an insider's account of being a combat pilot in the first Gulf War, a commander supporting peace in Bougainville and security in Cambodia and the often harrowing experience of being a first-response commander dealing with the aftermath of the Boxing Day tsunami in Indonesia.
Wednesdays with Writers is on Wednesday, August 25, from 11am-2.30pm. Tickets are $60 per person and include tea, coffee, the talk, a Q and A time and delicious grazing table with drinks.
Flight Command will be available to purchase, and can be signed by the author.
Bookings can be made via the Book Nook 2577 Facebook page, or email booknook2577@gmail.com, or call Maria Sava on 0412 627 706.
