A Sydney motorcyclist has been fined for allegedly speeding and breaching a Public Health Order near Bargo.

According to NSW Police at 7:47am on July 6, a motorcyclist overtook an unmarked Highway Patrol vehicle heading south on the Hume Highway near Bargo.

The speed of the motorcycle was checked at 131 km/h in the 110 km/h zone. After being stopped it was established that the rider, a 28-year-old man from Maroubra was the holder of a learner licence for motorcycles and restricted to a speed limit of 90 km/h. It was also established that he was in breach of the current Public Health Order restricting him from leaving his Local Government Area and Sydney. NSW Police said he did not have a lawful reason for doing this.
The man was issued with a penalty notice for exceeding the speed limit over 30 km/h, fined $944, deducted five demerit points and received three months on the spot suspension.He was also fined $1000 for breaching a Public Health Order. The man was directed to return to his home address and that he needed a tow truck to remove the motorbike.
