Highlands Over 60s were recently presented with the championship trophy at a function in Sydney after winning the Sydney Masters Cricket Association Over 60s Vintage League for season 2020/21.
President David Wells, secretary Peter Jensen and curator Rod van Beek represented the club, which had previously been runners up in its inaugural season.
David Wells acknowledged the award saying "this is a great honour for the club given that the competition represents the finest players across metropolitan Sydney. It is testament to the quality of our Highlands players who really do punch above their weight."

It was a double celebration as Highlands also won the Spirit of Cricket Award with points being awarded by the umpires for the manner in which each team played the game.
While skipper Peter Jensen led the team admirably in securing this award, he also achieved individual success by winning both the Vintage League's best batsman and best and fairest awards.
Highlands only managed to play four matches - against Sri Lankan Lions, Northern Stars, Hunter and Kuringai - as the season was decimated by the weather and the Covid restrictions.
In other important club news, following a huge amount of work by president Wells, the club has become incorporated under the name Southern Highlands Cricket Club. This puts the club's administration on a firmer footing reinforcing the Vets as an established presence in Highlands cricket.
An Annual General Meeting will be held in August with some reshuffling of the executive likely. Much of the program for season 2021/22 has already been determined with Highlands due to defend their Vintage championship and again compete in the state 60s carnival.
Finally, NSW teams have been announced for the national 60s championships to be played on the Sunshine Coast in September.
Highlands will be well represented with Peter Jensen, Ian Bradburn and Mark Preddey playing in Division 1, and another three selected in lower divisions.
In the over 70s national championships, to be played in Launceston in November, three Highlands players have been selected with Allan Drummond deservedly making the Division 1 team for the first time.
This achievement is testament to the skill, dedication and determination of all selected players.
