The week is a global campaign to increase public awareness of brain research.
There is a competition underway, run by the Australian's Research Council's Centre of Excellence for Integrative Brain Function, where primary students are asked to learn about the brain through art.
Taking into consideration the theme 'My brain helps me to', students will need to create a piece of artwork on an A4 size paper using either pens, pencils, crayons, textas or paint.
The competition, judged by some of Australia's leading brain researchers, can be entered by students individually or as a combined school or class effort.
The competition is judged in different year level categories. The winning schools will receive a special visit from young and enthusiastic brain researchers who will deliver an age-appropriate interactive lesson about the brain to the winner's class.
Prizes also include up to $1000 in teaching aids for the winning students' schools.
Artworks are due on April,16 and will then be judged.
