Maggie guest stars on the podcast Booming by positive ageing advocate Marcus Riley.
A passionate advocate for fresh food, Maggie emphasises the importance of eating well, and it's necessity for long-term brain health and longevity.
In her book with Professor Ralph Martins, 'Recipes for Life' is to designed to share recipes to help improve brain health and help older Australians access nourishing food through her foundation.
In the Booming episode, Maggie Beer said the key things she learnt from Professor Ralph Martins were the strength of antioxidants in fresh food, the value of herbs and spices, and the importance of gut health to brain health.
"Food is the most important part of the equation, perhaps, but in combination with exercise and mental stimulation and connectedness - it has to be whole," she said.
"Food is the centre of the plate but it works together with all of those other things."
Brimming with an irrepressible zest for life, Maggie shares her wisdom on positive ageing and the important role that food and home hospitality play in a long and healthy life.
"Don't think that celebration means fancy. Celebration means caring, the quality of the produce, the seasonality of the produce, the flavour of the produce, it's not about restaurant food, it's about home cooking," she said.
