St George have signed Parramatta Eels front-rower Daniel Alvaro for the next two seasons, until at least the end of the 2022 NRL Telstra Premiership season.
Alvaro made his first grade debut in 2015 and has played 95 NRL games to date, including a six-game loan spell at the New Zealand Warriors last season.
The Mittagong Lions junior also won the Ken Thornett Medal as the Eels' Player of the Year in 2018.
Alvaro said St George have welcomed him with open arms and he can't wait to play footy next season.
"It's an awesome feeling signing with St George," Alvaro said.
"I've only been down at the club for two days and they've already welcomed me in.
"It's good for a fresh start and the first couple of days have been really enjoyable. I'm excited to be at the club."
Having spent time with the New Zealand Warriors and now leaving the Parramatta Eels, the signing is a fresh start for Alvaro.
"I had a few chats with Parramatta and they said if I could find some new opportunities elsewhere, they'd let me explore it," Alvaro said.
"The Dragons gave me an opportunity and it's all come about very quickly.
"Like all other sportspeople, 2020 was a bit of a roller coaster full of uncertainties.
"But, I was lucky enough to spend some time with the Warriors and I really enjoyed it.
"They were a great group of guys and it was an awesome experience."
St George Illawarra's first game with be on Sunday, March 14 against the Cronulla Sharks.
