But...And it's a big but.
Had NSW winger Josh Addo-Carr not been denied a penalty try in the dying moments Nathan Cleary would have been odds on to level the score at 20-all with an elementary conversion.
Veteran Channel 9 commentator Phil Gould declared: "Addo-Carr is the fastest man on the planet. Repeat, the fastest man on the planet."
Ado-Carr was hemmed in.
He put toe to boot, the tryline his only target.
The ball wobbled a path to the line with Addo-Carr, alias The Fox, in hot pursuit.
But a Maroon meteor impeded him. Slowing him. unsettling him.
A try gone begging.
Phil Gould exclaimed: "He would have got there. He's the fastest man on the planet."
Regardless, Queensland could not be denied their win.
They out-tackled NSW.
The four new players made a massive difference and so,too, did the loss of the Blues best playground James Tedesco who surrendered to concussion in just the 19th minute.
Players who stood out for NSW in Origin 2 went missing, especially in the backline.
And not one NSW forward made a defence splitting pass.
Cameron Munster did virtually as he liked for the winners.
No longer are they the Maroons. Munsters is a better fit.
And for the Blues, Munster is a monster.
The ball he kicked into undefended space that led to a winning try should be mounted in the Gabba museum.
