Berrima Courthouse CEO Colin Gelling OAM announced the celebrations would be cancelled as health and public safety could not be guaranteed.
"Under the current distancing requirements and the serving of food and beverages prerequisites, it became obvious that it was not possible to manage the crowds and give everyone a safe and enjoyable and carefree day," he said.
"We trust you will understand this decision, which was not taken lightly and with much consultation with all parties coming to the same conclusion and in full agreement.
"I am sure that most of us will be glad to see the end of 2020 and hopefully embrace 2021 with a great deal of joy and optimism. I would like to take this opportunity to wish you the best Christmas and happy and prosperous New Year."
