2020 was to have been a year of 10th anniversary celebrations for the group, but restrictions associated with the global pandemic hindered plans.
However, the first opportunity to meet since the start of the pandemic was enjoyed by several members of the not-for-profit group.
This took the form or an early Christmas luncheon at the Scottish Arms in Bowral. The event had a dual purpose to acknowledge the efforts of one of the Highlands Association's founding members John Reid who is moving interstate.
A small group of association members jumped at the opportunity to meet in person with the luncheon including the presentation of the plaque to Mr Reid in recognition of his tireless and dedicated service overthe past decade.
While JP Desk service have been restricted during the COVID-19 global pandemic Highlands volunteers have continued to offer witness support in a modified way.
The Southern Highlands Justice Association has provide a JP Desk service throughout much of the pandemic in an office in Springett's Arcade Bowral.
Arcade manager Mark Springett has generously provided the association with a space in an upstairs office.
This has enable the association to continue its service while ensuring covid safe conditions for both volunteers and the people of the community who seek assistance.
The JP Desk service is available at suite 11 upstairs in Springett's Arcade each Wednesday and Saturday from 10am to 1pm.
