Andrew James Kublins, 33, of Colo Street in Mittagong, appeared at Picton Local Court on Tuesday, October 27.
Police have charged Mr Kublins with 39 counts of larceny.
The man represented himself in court, dressed in a fluro orange jumper and grey shorts with white stripes.
The matter was adjourned until November so Mr Kublins could seek legal advice.
Magistrate Cheetham said the man would be required to enter a plea at the next court date.
"You might also think about whether your clothing is appropriate for a court," Magistrate Cheetham said.
