On Saturday, October 3 at Bowral Bowling Club Neville Tanner and Glen Phillips defeated Rick Reynolds and Owen Williams 20-19 in the match of the day.
Tanner and Phillips battled out a hard fought one shot win with both sides close through the 21 ends.
After six ends the scores locked at 6-6 and at that stage it looked increasingly this would end up in a close contest.
"Opportunities " for both sides to get a reasonable lead were stopped by the skippers with good saving shot bowls.
At the half way mark 11 ends Tanner and Phillips held a narrow one shot lead 10-9.
On the 13th end Tanner and Phillips scored four shots to give them a 15-9 lead and a whiff of victory in site.
But, at the finish they had their lead cut back to 18-17 after 18 ends and went on to a one shot victory.

Just a refresher at the end of last weeks column I stated the answer would appear this week.
Conservez vos meilleurs amis proches, Mais voz ennemis plus pre's.
Interesting so many asked what did it mean in English. I said you will have to wait and read next week.
Translation to English: "keep your best friends close, but your enemies closer."
