When you say scarecrow, most people think of a man filled with straw, wearing a big floppy hat, in the middle of a corn field.

But as Highlanders have proved in the past, they can be so much more.
Entries for the Bundanoon Scarecrow Competition are now open and it's time to get creative.
The competition has been run on and off for the past 20 years and has always been a much anticipated event in the Bundanoon community.
Bundanoon Lions member and event organiser Elizabeth Cranny said the competition would bring a bit of joy to the community after a tough year.
"We thought it was something the community looks forward to and we all need something to look forward to," she said.
"We all need a little bit of joy and laughter in our life. You can have a good drive through the village to see the scarecrows and enjoy it."
Over the years there have been plenty of different types of scarecrows.
From the more traditional scarecrows to ones made from foil and a fairy scarecrow with wings, there have been plenty of sensational creations.
"We've had some amazing entries. It's been a very popular event in the last few years," Ms Cranny said.
"And the scarecrows will all be practicing the appropriate level of social distancing."
This year's competition will run in the lead up to the October long weekend to allow as many people as possible to see this year's entries.
Participants can enter in either the junior (12 and under) or open category.
Entry forms can be found at The Village Grocer & Store, at Bundanoon Newsagency or on the Bundanoon Lions Facebook page and entries close on September 30.
