Goulburn MP Wendy Tuckerman announced $9.6 million for Wombeyan Caves from the NSW government's regional growth environment and tourism fund.
The aim of the funding is to increase visitation to the region.
The money will be put towards a "major makeover" for the caves with cabin accommodation, interpretative signage, new amenities, a new cafe and a bookable function area.
Mrs Tuckerman said her next focus would be Wombeyan Caves Road.
"When you look at the data coming out, Wombeyan Caves in regards to visitation is enormous," she said.
"There's not much point in having a fantastic facility like this if we can't get people there safely.
"We've got to really start looking at what we can do to make that road safe."
Wombeyan Caves was closed due to extensive bushfire and storm damage.
According to Destination Southern Highlands, the re-opening will be staged and the Junction Cave will not be open for some time.
