In a big weekend of basketball, the Magic faced off with the Hills Hornets and Hawkesbury Jets at Minto Sports Centre.
On Saturday, August 8 the team defeated the Hawkesbury Jets 80-67.
Coach Rick Davies said it was an excellent outing.
"I though the boys played quite well," Davies said.
"I felt these teams were teams we should have beaten and things worked out well and it gave me a chance to play all 12 players in the squad.
"Having a large squad of good players doesn't really impact playing more than one game in the weekend as I get to rest some and play others more."
Both games disallowed spectators. Being a game of runs and bursts of energy which crowd participation can create, basketball teams may be finding it difficult to stay motivated for four quarters, but the Magic have a plan for that.
"Not having a crowd does have an impact, but as coaches we are trying to get the bench players more involved with boosting the team from the sidelines," Davies said.
"We are also getting the players to be louder on defence on the court."
On Sunday, August 9 the Magic faced the Hills Hornets got the 83-68 victory.
"The Hills game impressed me most," Davis said.
"Towards the end of the game we did get the lead up to 24, but Hills shot some big threes in the last couple of minutes to reduce the margin.
"Tristan "Tricky" Glenn stepped up in that game with 27 points.
"Tricky will be playing his last two games this weekend before flying out to college in the US next week.
"In the Jets game Kyle Leslie top scored with 28 points. Kyle is also due to fly out to his US College later in the year.
"Hopefully Leslie can stay with the Magic for the full season and finals."
This weekend the Magic will be facing some tough competition, but if they get the wins they can remain on top of the ladder.
"This weekend we have some tougher games with St George Saints Black on Saturday night in Sydney," Davids said.
"We then have the Norths Bears on Sunday afternoon at home in Moss Vale.
"Hopefully these will be a couple of good wins for us as, at present we are equal first on the top of the ladder."
