On Sunday, July 19 at Bowral Bowling Club the match of the day was the quarter finals seeing Tom Degreenlaw and David Coltman defeating Mike Holmwood and Robin Staples 20-17.
This was a huge win for Degreenlaw and Coltman as they trailed 12-6 after 11 ends and still trailed 13-9 after 14 ends.
But, on the next four ends they found their touch and picked up eleven shots to hit the front 20-13.
Holmewood and Staples won the last three ends, but came up three shots short.
Other quarter-final results:
Stephen Della, Kevin Stafford defeated Carl Spilker, Nathan Boyers 21-12.
Della and Stafford got away to a good start and after eleven ends held a 10-5 lead.
Following good play by both teams, the match became a tight affair with Della and Stafford leading 14-11 with five ends to play.
Clearly from then on Della and Stafford had the better of play and come away with a nine shot win.
Eric Willacy, Paul Leverett defeated Noel Fraser, Jim Neely 22-13.
This win did not come as a surprise as Willacy and Leverett knocked out the favourites on the Saturday.
Ashley Lewis, Josh Woodcock defeated Brian Payne, Gordon Lewis 28-13.
I don't like to say it, but after seven ends Lewis and Woodcock had the game shot to pieces leading 18-0.
Club news:
Bowls secretary Dan Ticehurst has announced the semi-finals will be played this coming Saturday, July 25 commencing at 9:30am between Stephen Della, Kevin Stafford V Eric Willacy, Paul Leverett.
Ashley Lewis, Josh Woodcock V Tom Degreenlaw, David Coltman and the final will be in the afternoon at 1:pm.
All games will be a game of tactics and bowls will be the winner on the day.
Just an introduction to people who read this column, by the time the final is played and won, the finalist will have been on the green for six to seven hours.
The quality of play should be of the highest standard depending on the weather conditions.
