Under the new guidelines, one nominated visitor per patient is permitted each day between 10 am and 11 am and from 5 pm to 7 pm.
In birthing suites, the nominated support person can attend at any time of the day. Paediatric patients can have a parent or carer with them at any time.
Special exemptions can only be granted by the General Manager or their executive on-call after hours. This will only be considered in exceptional circumstances.
The visitor limits are necessary to reduce the transmission of COVID-19 and based on clinical advice from infectious disease experts.
Patients are asked to nominate one person as their visitor with other family members and friends encouraged to use technology to check in with their loved ones.
Hospital staff will request identification and contact details from hospital visitors.
WiFi is available throughout the hospitals with Skype, FaceTime and instant messaging some of the ways families can stay in touch using technology.
