As international travel is still a distant dream, people are interested in looking at purchasing and hiring campervans to go on a road trip after holiday travel restrictions were eased.
Caravan hire and RV sharing platform Camplify has received a high interest shown by people looking at renting the vehicles.
"The year 2020 is definitely the year of road trips," Justin Hales, CEO of the company said.
"There has been a 400 per cent increase in people searching on the website for vans including campervans and caravans in the last 30 days compared to the previous two months."
The caravan parks and campgrounds were open to essential workers, park residents and their visitors before being opened to the general public in June while adhering to health and safety guidelines.
The number of travellers at the caravan parks have been increasing as well.
For Goulburn's Governors Hill Caravan Park, easing of restrictions means that the place is once again filled up with travellers.
"Before COVID-19, we used to have about 80 per cent occupancy around the year. However, during the pandemic, we hit rock bottom," park manager Peter Lyne said.
"We are now open for bookings and our clientele has been increasing. The park has been full on a couple of nights too."
Measures have been adopted by the caravan parks to ensure the safety of travellers.
"Half of our amenities block had to be closed due to complying with the government's directives," Mr Lyne added.
Similar thoughts were echoed by Goulburn South Caravan Park manager Lois Kemp who feels that the number of travellers has started increasing.
"More caravans are coming in and the cabins are filling up. It is looking good," she said.
Meanwhile, Carly Tridham, manager of the Mittagong Caravan Park feels that even though the numbers have increased, it is nowhere near how it used to be last year.
Moss Vale Village Caravan Park manager Beverly Mutton feels that more people are keen to head out now.
"The numbers have started increasing slowly and weekends are getting busier for us," she said.
The park is located 10k from Bowral and 45 minutes from Goulburn.
