UPDATE: The number of cases in the Southern HIghlands is now 15. The latest case has been identified as community acquired.

- Number of community acquired cases in the Highlands: - 1 (this is a new and worrying development)

Spokesman for the the Southern Highlands Division of General Practice Dr Vince Roche said there was still a hope that our social isolation was working, despite some appalling social irresponsibility from people on the beaches and from people arriving back from overseas.
Dr Roche referred to a message, highlighted by journalist Peter Fitsimmons, which had been doing the rounds on social media "your parents were called on to fight world wars, you are being called on to wash your hands and sit on the couch. Don't f--- this up."
"The local medical community (along with the overwhelming majority of Australian doctors) still believes strongly that we should be socially isolating everyone who is not an essential worker as well as the children of anyone who is not an essential worker," Dr Roche said.
"Socially isolating and frequent soap and water handwashing remains the main opportunity for us to manage this epidemic.
"Stay at home (when and if you can) - not such a catchy hash tag! - and stay healthy.
"And thanks to our doctor, nurses, aged care workers, policemen, firemen and all other essential workers (too many to name) for offering to put your life on the line by not staying at home."
