Bob Crowley defeated Peter Morales 31-11. Crowley went into the game with a special plan to defeat Morales. Crowley played his draw shots very diligently early and went to a 10-1 lead after seven ends.
Morales got in to action over the next three ends but still trailed 10-5.
Then Crowley with a good range of draw shots shot to a 25-11 lead after 21 ends.
The last five ends was only a nightmare for Morales and when the match completed Crowley stormed into the final by 20 shots.
In the other semi-final, Stephen Della defeated Paul Leverett 31-22.
Della started a little bit tentative, but had a lead 6-5 after seven ends.
Leverett made a bid to stay in the match with his shot selections and this he did, only trailing 11-10 after 12 ends.
Then we were about to find out the drawing power of Della, who shot to a 21-10 lead after 16 ends.
At the finish it was Della moving into the final by nine shots. Bowls secretary Dan Ticehurst has attempted to get the final on for March 22. But owing to pennants and zone commitment this may not be. Please check the club notice board.
Letter to Bowral Bowling Club
A letter has been received from Cure Brain Cancer Foundation chief executive officer Kerrie McDonald thanking Bowral Bowling Club members and the Benton family for their generous fundraising contribution of $1835.
This money was raised at the recent Chris Benton Memorial Shield Bowls Day.
"The support will help us to achieve our mission: to increase five-year survival from 20 per cent to 50 per cent by 2023," she said in the letter.
"We are also supporting Australian science to help get promising treatments developed here from the lab in the clinic."
Health precautions
With increasing concerns around coronavirus, we recommend helping reduce the risk you do the following:
1) No hand shaking
2) No team huddles
3) No sharing of drinks, towels, lip balm and sunscreen
4) Use hand sanitiser where possible
5) Wash hands frequently
6) Cough or sneeze into tissue or elbow
7) Avoid touching of face, nose, eyes and mouth with unwashed hands.
As this stage the bowls events will still be going ahead as planned but we will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide regular updates in the coming weeks.
If you are feeling unwell, we recommend you refrain from playing and seek medical advice.
