Bruce Mumford of Moss Vale has experienced several issues with the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA).
Previously Bruce waited more than a year for a new wheelchair, and unfortunately for Bruce he again needed to contact Stephen Jones MP earlier this month as he had experienced further difficulties with the NDIA.
Bruce had made repeated requests to the NDIS since early 2019 for the urgent approval of a new bed and was advised by his Support Coordinator that the hiring company was coming to repossess the bed he currently had as the NDIA had failed to pay.
After contacting the NDIA on Bruce's behalf Stephen Jones was advised that the bed had been approved and ordered.
"It should never have taken almost 12 months to get access to a vital piece of equipment. People like Bruce should not have to miss out or wait for services or equipment that can profoundly improve their lives," he said.
"The Coalition Government's decision to slash $4.6 Billion from the NDIS has resulted in people living with a disability not having access to supports and services they desperately need.
"When Labor first rolled out the NDIS, it promised to revolutionise the disability service sector and give people living with disabilities and their carers greater choice and more control over their lives.
"However, under the Coalition the NDIS has been riddled with problems and budget cuts, which in turn have significantly impacted those living with a disability, their carers and family's access to necessary supports and services.
"The Coalition Government have shown that they are more concerned with cutting corners than delivering the essential services our community need, deserve and were promised."
