Member for Wollondilly Nathaniel Smith MP, announced that the accessibility upgrade would include:
- Two new lifts to provide access to the station platforms
- New ambulant toilets and a family accessible toilet
- Provision of a formal bus stop
- Upgraded accessible car spaces and Kiss and Ride bay
- Improvements to CCTV and lighting to increase safety and security
"This is an important infrastructure upgrade that will make it easier for all customers, including those who are less mobile, to access public transport services from Mittagong Station," Mr. Smith said
"The upgrade is due to be completed early next year.
"The station will remain operational throughout the construction period, except on scheduled track work weekends when the network is closed for track maintenance.
"Work may also be undertaken during non-peak times at night for the safety of workers and customers."
