He has been a teacher and mentor at the University of Sydney's Centre for Continuing Education in the departments of English, media studies and writing studies since 1995.
Dr Tredinnick was also a writer-in-residence for the school of education and social work in 2018.
He has published several prose and poetry books. His most recent include Australia's Wild Weather, The Blue Plateau and Milkweed.
Dr Tredinnick has been a guest and speaker at a range of poetry and literature festivals in China, United Kingdom and Germany.
He has also held various other positions including international writing fellow at the Lu Xun Literature Academy in Beijing, and a writer in residence at universities in Nebraska and Alaska, USA.
His work has been recognised with awards including the Pretty Poetry Prize in 2017 and the ACU Poetry Prize in 2016.
