On advice from structural engineers external bracing is to be erected at the Playhouse starting Thursday, January 30.
The bracing will be installed over a period of two weeks and on completion will allow staff and contractors to safely undertake fault investigation and remediation works on the building.
Works will include excavating sections of the existing car park bitumen, followed by the installation of the steel supports and pouring of concrete footings.
These works will be undertaken adjacent to the western wall of the building.
This process will be staged between Thursday, January 30 and Tuesday, February 11.
The onsite car park will be temporarily closed to both motorists and pedestrians on days when excavation and heavy machinery are required.
These temporary closures are expected to take up to four hours each in duration.
Once the bracing has been successfully erected and the building made safe, a thorough internal assessment of the building will be undertaken and a plan formulated to fix the building's structural fault.
During these investigations and repairs, the current nine car spaces immediately adjacent to the western wall will remain closed and fenced off.
