The NSW Country Championships will be hosted by the Southern Highlands Water Polo Club over the long weekend of January 25-27 at the Mittagong and Frensham Centenary pools.
Both the men's and women's championships will be decided on Monday.
Teams will be travelling from as far North as Tamworth and Albury in the South.
Club president Miles Lochhead said, "We have hosted the Championships at least five times, the first one being in 1983. We are delighted that the Country Club Championships have been awarded to the Southern Highlands Club in our 40th year."
The Southern Highlands Club is able to provide the facilities necessary to complete the number of matches programmed over the weekend.
The Club appreciates the support of Wingecarribee Shire Council and Frensham. The Club is also lucky enough to have benefitted from a significant grant from an anonymous donor, which was facilitated through the Australian Sports Commission.
This grant has ensured that the Championship games are played with equipment of the highest standard and quality.
The number of teams competing this year is slightly down on previous years reflecting the tough conditions being felt in many country areas.
Tamworth Shire came very close to closing their swimming centre due to the impacts of the drought.
Other clubs are struggling through the rural downturn.
The clubs who will be there will be trying harder than ever to gain the title of NSW Country Champions. Hopefully they will enjoy their stay in the Southern Highlands and boost our local economy as a side benefit.
