The blaze broke out on Saturday night, when the Currowan fire jumped from Kangaroo Valley.
The fire has affected residents in Bundanoon, Wingello, Penrose, Meryla, Exeter, Avoca, Fitzroy Falls and surrounding areas.
Southern Highlands Rural Fire Service public liaison Kate Carter said there was "still an active fire around Wingello, Bundanoon and Exeter".
"There are ground crews in place working in there. Unfortunately we don't have any air support at the moment because of the smoke," Ms Carter said.
"The utilities are in there trying to fix up power and gas. Local Land Services is around as well."
NSW Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS) Southern Highlands public liaison Kate Carter said the RFS suspected there were numerous structure losses.

However she could not confirm the locations or how many buildings were affected at this stage.
"We haven't had any building analysis teams go in due to the safety of the fireground," Ms Carter said.
The NSW RFS has received numerous calls from residents about re-entering the towns and villages.
"We have had a lot of enquiries come in who live in those areas. They've been asking if they can go in," Ms Carter said.
"Things aren't quite safe because of the amount of trucks and crews around. We don't want to have to worry about [the safety of] members of the public."
