The fire crossed the Shoalhaven River near Tallong overnight.
Southern Tablelands Control Centre spokesperson George Shepard said that the fire was "inactive."
"It did cross the river," he said.
"The fire is inactive and crews have contained it.
"With the current conditions, crews are working on containment lines."
Residents are reminded to monitor conditions and be alert for spot fires and embers and to activate their bush fire survival plan.
According the Bureau of Meteorology conditions are set to worsen on January 4.

- Spot fires have been reported burning near Sussex Inlet Road.

Road Closures
- Wandean Road and Braidwood Road.
- Kings Highway west of Nelligen, between Reid Street and Narranghi Road.
- Araluen Road, between Araluen and Moruya.
- The Princes Highway is currently closed between Jervis Bay Road and Corks Lane (Falls Creek to Milton). Intermittent closures are possible in other locations. Please observe speed restrictions and be mindful of the movement of emergency service vehicles.
