Poached from chilly England to sunny Australia where he played for West Tigers, the Roosters and the Broncos.
Oh yes, throw in Great Britain Test matches and maybe you recall the name Harvey Howard.
A burly winger. One of the most sought after in world football in the eighties and nineties.
Well, guess what?
Harvey Howard has just been appointed coaching co-ordinator of the newly formed Group 6 club, the Highland Storm.
Talk about winning the lottery!
Harvey will supervise all coaches, players and parents.
I met up with him last Saturday at the community hall in Moss Vale. He was with his son Cooper, a likely looking under 10's winger.
The fledgling club was having a get-together before Christmas. A smashing roll up, including girls from the club's ladies tag team.
Early days, but it is obvious of the calibre of Harvey Howard calling the shots on so many fronts, you can eagerly look forward to season 2020.
Harvey played with the cream of British football - Wigan, Widnes, Castleford, Leeds and Hull KR.
In Australia he played under coaches Jack Gibson, Tommy Raudonikis and Wayne Bennett.
"I am here to help out and I like what I see," Harvey said.
"We have a committee hellbent on running a successful club."
Official David Whetton told me the club was keen to have a song.
I wrote the following. The sound effects are on the drawing board but here are the words:
We are the new boys on the Group 6 block,
We are here to rock, rock, rock.
We play to win, we play fair,
To play the greatest game of all.
Bring on the lightning, bring on the thunder,
We are the Highland Storm.
We give our best to please our fans and all the rest,
Rugby League is our game,
The Highland Storm is our name.
Bring on the lightning, bring on the thunder,
We are the Highland Storm.
