A meteor shower will be visible in the sky almost everywhere in Australia this weekend.
No telescope or binoculars are required.
The shower from the Geminids meteor happens each year when Earth passes through a cloud of debris from the 3200 Phaethon meteor.
From midnight to 3am on Saturday seems to be the best viewing, according to those who know.
The meteors are caused by small particles of rock and dust from the asteroid-comet entering the Earth's atmosphere.
As they vaporise high overhead they leave long, bright and sometimes colourful trails across the sky.
Experts say the shower should be visible both early Saturday and Sunday mornings.
Watchers should look to the northeast, and hope no cloud obscures their view.
