Looking inside our hospital, the management of patient medication has improved with the change from paper charts to the Electronic Medication management system (eMeds).
This program reduces medication errors, improves accuracy and visibility of medication information and improves communication with patients about their medication.
Bowral and District Hospital is the second team in the South Western Sydney Local Health District to begin using the electronic system.
All clinical staff, including medical, nursing, pharmacy and allied health, will benefit from additional hardware which will increase access to the system.
We invited Southern Highlands Christian School to cater a lunch for hospital staff as part of our Workplace Giving program, which supports the Barbara May Foundation.
It is wonderful to know that as a result of our contribution, the foundation can staff and operate a newly built, fully equipped, 20-bed maternity hospital in Ethiopia.
A gold coin donation for the meal provided additional financial support to this great cause.
A total of $261 was raised!
Our nursing workforce recently attended one of the biggest events of the year; South Western Sydney Local Health District's Nursing and Midwifery Showcase.
Bowral and District Hospital was well represented with presentations and posters from staff in the children's and maternity wards as well as some of our nurse specialists in respiratory care and infection prevention.
