Southern Highlands apprentice carpenter Zachary Bollinger has won the coveted Apprentice of the Year award through the Master Builders Association twice in a row.

The dedicated tradesman is a third-year apprentice at MDB Building.
Owner Mark Bailey has been a builder in the Southern Highlands for 20 years. He currently employs two apprentices: Zachary Bollinger and Jason Selmes.
Mr Bollinger topped his TAFE class in 2017 and 2018 and is in good standing to top class this year. The hard-worker competed in the NSW Tafe World Skills in his first year of carpentry and came 5th overall.

Mr Bollinger's employer said he was an outstanding young man and was enthusiastic about his role as an apprentice carpenter.
"Zac often goes above and beyond in everything he is asked to do, he is always eager to learn and often asks questions."
The apprentice has worked within the Southern Highlands on a variety of different jobs from period renovations and extensions to custom builds.
The awards night was held at the Star City Casino in Sydney on November 9. The event was attended by 912 people and was hosted by Jane Azzopardi and Tom Steinfort, with entertainment from comedian Vince Sorrenti.
