A grass fire broke out on Station Street, Thirlmere at 3:25 pm.
The fire is under control and NSW Rural Fire Service are on the scene and are in the process of putting it out.
The area burnt was 100x200 metres according to a Wollondilly Fire Contol Centre spokesperson.
Tallong:
There are reports of a grass fire at Railway Parade, Tallong.
According to the RFS Fires Near Me website, it is currently under control.
The Rural Fire Service is on the scene.
The call came in at approximately 3:09 pm.
Southern Tablelands operational officer Lachlan Gilchrist said the fire broke out just after 3pm in grassland within the town's limits. Four appliances from Big Hill and Tallong quickly doused the fire, which burnt half a hectare.
The cause is unknown.
"Fortunately there's been nothing else in our region today but the incident at Tallong indicates how seriously we are taking today," Mr Gilchrist said.
Residents are reminded to stay clear from any fires and to call 000 for any unattended fires.
