Angus recently competed in the u19 Australian Boxing Championship in Queensland, where he represented NSW and proved that size means nothing when he beat his Victorian opponent in the final.
His proud mum Roxanne said that Angus was selected to represent NSW and was up against a Victorian boxer in the finals
"After three rounds, Angus was awarded gold and [Victorian boxer] was awarded silver," she said.
Shy and modest, Angus said it felt good and happy after he was awarded gold and named Australian Champion and that it was a tough round.
Angus was first introduced to boxing at the PCYC.
"I first went to the PCYC and then I went to the Grange [High Performance] and then I started competing," he said.
"I like the training, the dedication, the hard work and my teammates.
"At training we focus on footwork such as dancing.
"Dancing is a boxing stance. You put one foot forward and you quickly jump back."
Like his humble attitude, Angus's favourite go to move is the humble jab and the only thing he dislikes about the sport is the lack of opponents and lack of competitions.
In an earlier interview with Southern Highland News, Angus revealed that he got in to boxing to keep fit and that it gave him a lot of confidence.
The first competition Angus entered was the Australian Golden Glove, after his coach suggested he should enter. It was also his first competition win.
Angus has gone from strength to strength and hopes to continue to compete in future boxing tournaments while he trains hard to stay fit and ready to don gloves in the boxing ring.
