Cloud Cottage by Takt Studio is in the running for an award at the prestigious Australian Institute of Architects' 2019 NSW Country Division Awards.
The event showcases outstanding architectural design practice, celebrating the best in architecture from across country NSW.
Jury chair Virginia Wong-See said there was an "impressive collection of projects" among this year's nominees.
"Ranging from modernist sensibility, contemporary beach houses, to sophisticated interiors and all with the climate in mind," she said.
Cloud Cottage is a remaking of a cottage in the Bowral conservation precinct.
The home draws stories from a passion for Australian literature and a gardener with expertise in native landscapes.
Bringing the living space to the north, while celebrating views to Mount Gibraltar, the home now connects to the life of the street.
An open verandah joins to a new garden room, providing a creative retreat for weaving, writing, reading and conversation.
The home engages with the heritage streetscape in a gentle way, and offers unique spaces for life across the seasons.
These projects are among 34 competing in ten award categories, including new residential housing, alternations and additions, interiors, public architecture and more.
Winners will be decided by a panel of expert judges including Damien Furey, Gabrielle Pelletier, Joseph Paonessa and artist Tom Arthur.
The final category will be decided by members of the public who can show their support for a local, or favourite, project by voting in the People's Choice Award before 4pm on Wednesday, October 9.
Visit the website to cast your vote for the people's choice award.
The award winners will be announced at the awards presentation night to be held as part of the NSW Country Division's Annual Conference in Byron Bay on October 10.
