Khan Dawson, aged 69, was sentenced for failing to comply with his reporting obligations at Moss Vale Court on August 20 after he had unreported contact with children.
Dawson was convicted of significant child sex offences in 1999 and met the definition of a registrable person as per the Child Protection (Offenders Registration) Act 2000.
As a part of his obligations as a person on the register, he must notify police when he has any contact with children.
Magistrate Cheetham sentenced Dawson for a period of 18 months to commence on August 20, 2019 with an expiry date of February 19, 2021.
There was also a non-parole period of nine months, which would expire on May 19, 2020.
After the appeal was lodged to the court, the case was adjourned until October 28 to appear at Goulburn District Court.
