Points of View - Bundeena to Bowral, is an exhibition of recent works by four artists who although separated by distance, have been brought together through mutual artistic interests. Bowral's Maxine Green and Sue Meredith and Bundeena's Joanne Morris and Bob Withers explore and take inspiration from the natural and urban environment from different points of view. The exhibition will be open for six days only.
Fur-friends cupcake day
August 30, Waratah Highlands Retirement Village, 25 Tylers Road, Bargo, 1pm
Come and hear a guest speaker from the RSPCA and find out more about the benefits of living with your pet, as well as how you can enjoy the many perks of retirement living with your best friend by your side. Cinema Rex special screening
August 31, Bundanoon Soldiers' Memorial Hall, 7pm
Bundanoon's Cinema Rex is screening the Australian comedy The Merger. Director Mark Grentell will be present to chat about the film.Tickets are available at the door $10 adults, $5 children. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to wear their favourite footy team guernsey, jersey, scarf or hat. Arrive at 7pm for drinks and nibbles the screening will commence at 7:30pm.
Junior disco
August 31, Mittagong RSL, 4pm to 6pm
Southern Highlands kids will get the opportunity to boogie. The next Mittagong Junior Disco will be held this weekend. Ages up to 14 years old, cost is $5 per ticket. All money raised goes back to the children in the Southern Highlands community. Prizes will be drawn on the night. Max and Me exhibition
Retford Park, September 1 - October 7, 10am - 4pm
The Max and Me exhibition is about the friendship and collaboration between two talented artists - Susan Landau and Martial Cosyn. Ms Williams is a ceramist with a PhD in visual art, she studied with Japanese artist Mitsuo Shoji. The artists' stunning pieces, with curvaceous form and subtle glazes, inspire the viewer to consider the delicacy and skill involved in crafting such beautiful work. Mr Cosyn's approach to painting is bold and spontaneous and his tableau are always vibrant and engaging, even poetic. The show will be officially opened at Retford park gallery August 31 at 2pm by Jennifer Bott AO. Visit www.nationaltrust.org.au for more information.
