The day marked the centenary of the Picton to Mittagong railway line.
The celebration took place at the Yerrinbool Village Community Hall with members of NSW Trainlink, Yerinbool Village Group and the community in attendance.
The event was made possible by the partnership of NSW Trainlink and Yerrinbool Village Group members Jan Heslep and Maryann Anderson.
On the day MP Nathaniel Smith announced the re-engagement of the tourist steam train from Sydney via the Southern Highlands to Goulburn.
Mayor Duncan Gair pledged $1000 to The Yerrinbool Village Group.
A morning tea was available and a beautiful celebratory chocolate cake was cut and enjoyed by the railway enthusiasts who came to enjoy the day.
After the morning tea, residents and visitors made their way from the hall to Yerrinbool Station where a commemorative plaque was unveiled and two camellias were ceremoniously planted to mark the occasion.
The event was a once in a lifetime celebration and a testament to the rich railway history of the region.
