Ruling from behind the yellow silk screen, the Dowager Empress Cixi

Learn about the life and achievements of one of the most important women in Chinese Imperial History with lecturer David Rosier. The re-evaluation of Dowager Empress Cixi's life makes it possible to refute the traditional view that she was a cruel calculating megalomaniac who hate foreigners, condoned corruption and resisted attempts to modernise China. The lecture will be held at 10:30 am and repeated at 6 pm. Admission is $25, students are free. Tea and coffee will be provided.
A Few Mad People At Retford Park
July 6 - 7, Retford Park, 10 am - 4 pm
It will be a busy weekend at Retford Park, where there will be an open day and art exhibition. Enjoy the gardens and a tour of the house during the open weekend and then view the retrospective art exhibition on Southern Highland artist Robert Curtis. Curtis has been exhibited with the likes of Ian Fairweather, Eva Kubbos and Brett Whitely. The retrospective will also include an elegant dinner for 40 guests at Retford Park.
