Southern Highlands Police officer-in-charger Inspector John Klepczarek said four businesses in Berrima's central business district were targeted, and police believe this happened at about 1.30am.
"At this stage we believe from early investigations we may need to speak to a man and a woman," Inspector Klepczarek said.
"Police have been out canvassing the area and looking for witnesses and further information.
"[Business] break and enters are not very common [in Berrima]."
Inspector Klepczarek said it appeared the offender/s had taken some cash and some smaller items.
