Probationary Constable Matthew Fahy has joined the boys and girls in blue in the Highlands.
Hailing from Queanbeyan, Constable Fahy moved to Goulburn to join the force, saying it was his "life long ambition" and follows in the steps of fellow family members who have been in the NSW police force and the AFP. He is now stationed at the Southern Highlands Police Headquarters.
"Southern Highlands police are very welcoming and have a lot of knowledge and experience," he said.
"It makes the transition easier.
"There's no particular moment that I love, it's my ideal career, it's what I want to do."
For Constable Fahy, the next 12 months doing general duties will bring him one step closer to a role he has his sights set on, specialising in the tactical unit.
As for the worst part of being a police officer, Constable Fahy said it was the "unknown".
"It's the unknown of going to a job. Sometimes you can get jobs that look easy but it can be completely different. But it also makes it the best part of the job, every day is different."
