Ralph and Kathy Kelly may never get over the loss of their sons Thomas and Stuart but they're determined to turn what they went through into a force for good.

The call came at 10.25pm, as Kathy Kelly was getting ready to go to bed after a quiet Saturday evening at home at Burradoo, in the Southern Highlands. She couldn't make sense of what the guy on the line was saying, so she handed the phone to her husband, Ralph, who was in the bathroom cleaning his teeth. Within 15 minutes they were in their car, heading for Sydney. Their 18-year-old son, Thomas, had been hurt. The man from St Vincent's Hospital had refused to give details, saying only that Thomas had been in an altercation and they should come at once. During the 120-kilometre drive, the two spoke little. Their minds raced.
