About 40 residents gathered at Muriel Vickers Memorial Park on the Old Hume Highway at Yerrinbool (on the corner of Everest Street) for a special service on Anzac Day. The occasion was officiated by ex-serviceman Shane Norbury.
A reading of a poem, the laying of wreaths and flowers, a flag-raising ceremony and the Last Post, a minutes silence and Reveille were features of the morning service. The community then walked to the hall for tea, coffee and Anzac biscuits. While the community had previously held a service it had not occured for two years as the previous organiser had passed away. The residents are now hoping it will become an annual event.
