Lyn Weeks will share her passion for vintage sewing and embroidery with members and visitors.
Lyn began sewing smocked and embroidered baby garments for boutiques in Sydney, then Melbourne and Perth 40 years ago.
She has studied fashion and design in the United States, taught for the Smocking Arts Guild of America, was involved with the Royal School of Needlework in London, and is the founding president of the Australian Smockers Guild.
Lyn has a collection of around 60 historical Christening gowns and baby garments.
The oldest garment dates back to 1860.
Lyn will bring a selection of these to the meeting, talk about their history and discuss the fabrics, laces, embroideries and stitching that have gone into their construction.
Current members are free. Visitors $5 per person.
Morning tea will be provided.
