Pamela Johnstone has tossed her hat in the ring to run as an independent candidate for NSW in the Australian senate.
A qualified librarian, Ms Johnstone has been an information and research consultant for more than 35 years, specialising in online information in all subject areas.
Ms Johnstone will advocate for improved infrastructure and services in the regions in the areas of transport, especially rail, health, and water.
Ms Johnstone is passionate about the health of the environment and will stand for no new coal mines and no extensions to existing coal mines, as well as a solution to manage the Murray Darling river system, including the phasing out of crops not suitable to the Australian climate such as cotton and strong penalties for dumping, not just for major waste but for individuals throwing away plastic and rubbish on to roads and into parks and bush land.
She will also be encouraging proactive decentralisation of government and business in order to grow regional towns cities and relieve pressure on Sydney.
