The Koala project team have invited one thousand key landholders from across the Highlands which are predicted to have koala habitat to attend Koalarama - a series of free information and spotlighting nights being held all over the Shire from Tuesday, April 9 until Wednesday, April 17.
"With an estimated 3,000 koalas calling the Southern Highlands home, we have the largest koala population in southern NSW," Wingecarribee Shire Council's Koala project officer Margot Law said.
"Almost all our Eucalyptus dominated bushland is potential koala habitat.
"30 per cent of habitat is on private land and as a community we can come together to make sure our koalas survive and thrive in the wild."
To date more than 150 people have signed up to attend their local Koalarama event with vacancies still available for owners of properties notified by letter.
Each Koalarama will be a fun night for the whole family featuring an information session and supper, followed by spotlighting for koalas in nearby bushland.
"We would particularly love to hear from landholders in the High Range, Canyonleigh, Penrose, Wingello and Paddys River areas," Ms Law added.
"These locations are considered 'pinch points' critical to local koala movements and vitally important for the Great Western Wildlife Corridor which links the southern Blue Mountains to the Morton National Park."
The Southern Highlands Koala Project is proudly supported by the NSW Government's Saving our Species Program and Wingecarribee Shire Council's Environment Levy.
Landholders are encouraged to RSVP for their local Koalarama event by calling Margot Law on 4868 0888 or emailing at margot.law@wsc.nsw.gov.au.

Hill Top KOALARAMA: Tuesday, April 9, 6pm to 8.30pm
