President of the CWA Moss Vale evening branch, Jennifer Bowe OAM, believes that branches are now being established to meet the needs of the community in which they operate in, and one of those ways is meeting a flexible times such as evening branches.
"As the Australian community has grown and evolved, so has the CWA, and evening branches are hoping to attract girls and women who have been or still are in the workforce," she said.
"This is not to say that the historic day branches do not have validity. They meet the need of a broad cross section of the community, and are the way members have traditionally delivered services to the the community."
Moss Vale Evening CWA branch has held a breakfast meeting, a morning and an afternoon meeting in their quest to be flexible and meet the needs of their members.
"While formal business meetings may frighten some away, we do need to take time to share with members what we have achieved, and what we hope to do for our community, with this in mind our branch offers informal coffee and craft meetings, a movie club and will soon be establishing another initiative."
New friends are welcome to pop in and join a friendly group of like-minded women and learn something about our scope of operations. The CWA Moss Vale Evening branch will meet at 5:30 pm at the Moss Vale Community Hall, Queen street, Moss Vale on April 17.
