Endeavor Energy is taking to the skies to patrol powerlines to prepare for the next summer's bushfire season.
Endeavor Energy's general manager of network services, Scott Ryan, said that aerial patrols identify where repairs are needed and which trees need to be pruned to keep a safe distance from powerlines to help prevent bushfires.
"Managing the risk of bushfires is an important part of keeping the community safe," he said.
"We are starting our inspections to identify and complete network repairs before the official start of the bushfire season on 1 October.
Endeavor Energy would be using four helicopters to complete inspections with the program starting in Southern Highlands and the Shoalhaven before proceeding to Kiama and Shellharbour.
The helicopters will fly between 200 and 400 metres above the ground at a speed of about 40 km per hour and have been modified to be as quiet as possible.
Call 133 718 to receive notice regarding when to move livestock away from powerlines near your property.
The timetable for patrols is available on www.endeavourenergy.com.au/aerialpatrols.
