The Russian Roolette Formation Airshow Team have just returned from Avalon Airshow near Melbourne.
Avalon is the largest Airshow in the Southern Hemisphere ( fourth largest in the world ) and is held every two years.
It is a privilege to be invited to perform at this prestigious event as it features the latest military aircraft from around the world and some of the best international Airshow acts available.
The Russian Roolettes wowed the crowds over the four days of the show also being privileged to open the twilight show on the Friday Night.
The event was a great opportunity for the Southern Highland based team to showcase their skills on the international stage, leading to offers to participate in Airshows in China, Chile and PNG.
Formed in the mid 1990’s the Team is comprised of five ex Airforce and current Qantas Pilots and one civilian Flying Instructor The Team also has an Engineer, Commentator and Team Manager who travel with them to shows around Australia.
The opportunity to do what we love comes as no accident.
Although the team is based at Mittagong Airport, we regularly fly to Cowra to engage in our rigorous training program and keep our skills sharp.
As for our next displays, you will see some or the Team over the sky’s of the Southern Highlands on ANZAC Day conducting Flypasts over Mittagong and Moss Vale, as well as participating at the Wings Over Illawarra Airshow in May.
