The Australian Book Review magazine has announced the shortlist for the 2019 Peter Porter Poetry Prize and Highlands poet, Mark Tredinnick, has been selected.
Five poets have been shortlisted to receive the $8500 prize.
Tredinnick's poem was selected out of 900 works assessed by judges Judith Bishop, John Hawke and Paul Kane.
Tredinnick is a poet, essayist, and writing teacher, his books include The Little Red Writing Book and The Blue Plateau.
This isn't the first recognition Tredinnick has received for his work.
The poet was co-winner of the 2008 Calibre Prize for his essay A Storm and a Teacup.
The shortlisted poems will appear in the March issue of Australian Book Review.
The winner will be announced on March 18 at an event in Melbourne.
