This is according to new figures from the Department of Jobs and Small Business.
The shire’s jobless rate dropped to three per cent from 4.6 per cent from September 2013 to September 2018.
According to latest labour force figures, Hill Top and Colo Vale’s combined unemployment rate had experienced one of the biggest drops across Wingecarribee.
The area has decreased its unemployment rate to 3.1 per cent in September 2018, down from 5.0 per cent in September 2013.
There were improvements across the board, with the Southern Highlands jobless rate going from 2.8 per cent to 2.2 per cent from September 2013 to September 2018.
In the same period of time, Bowral went from 3.3 per cent to 2.3 per cent.
Meanwhile Mittagong experienced a drop of 5.8 per cent to 3.1 per cent, and a combined Moss Vale and Berrima job market went from an unemployment rate of 6.4 per cent to 3.7 per cent.
Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor said the jobless numbers in Wingecarribee were impressive.
“You can’t get much better than these results,” Mr Taylor said.
“The dramatic improvement in the unemployment rates across Wingecarribee, I believe, reflects the increased job opportunities from strong economic growth and infrastructure investment across the region.
“More Australians are now in work than ever before and I’m pleased we are seeing the benefits flowing in to significant parts of my electorate, with more local jobs.”
